Taking Responsibility

In Harmony with Nature

La Gomera is a green volcanic island in the Atlantic Ocean. Its wild and mountainous interior makes it especially popular with hikers and nature lovers, and it's known for its gentle, sustainable tourism.

European Charter

In 2011, El Cabrito joined 19 other enterprises in signing the ECNT Charter. The goal: to protect La Gomera’s ecological and scenic richness and to promote environmentally friendly tourism and support for local communities.

Ecology

Due to our secluded location, self-sufficiency in water and energy is especially important to us. We have our own well for drinking water, three reservoir basins for agricultural irrigation, a biological wastewater treatment and purification plant, and a photovoltaic system that covers one third of our electricity needs. Our farming is consistently based on organic principles.

Organization

To preserve the finca as an ecological haven in balance with people and nature – and to operate fairly and appreciatively towards staff and guests – our hotel is structured as a joint-stock company with an external board of directors. This ensures that profit is not the driving force, and helps us protect this unique place for generations to come.
